Japanese Youtube ?

As we all know, Youtube has been a great innovation which allows users to upload their videos to the internet, making a big bloom in the internet world. Recently I have discovered a variation of the service, which becomes another innovation. Do you think of a bulletin board can appear right on the video you can watching? Give you some time to imagine what it may be, and then see below.

"Nicovideo" in Japan is a "Youtube-like" website which can also allow users to upload their videos. However, it have a revolutionary function - audience can leave a "message" into the screen. It is a real-time process. The message will move from the right to the left in default, within the specific short time period. Sometimes when watching a clip of a cartoon, the density of comment rapidly increases as it reaches the climax. (e.g. when an important character is killed)

Here is an example (from a similar website, http://tw.keytalks.com/ , in Chinese):

a clip of a famous cartoon - you may have watched it

Audience can express there feelings, with different font size and colours. Sometimes it can create a special effect. Even some users can "draw" something called "comment arts" in the screen. (However, it also requires technique. If a person is good at drawing such pictures, he is said to be a "professional person".)

When many audience leave messages, they can feel that they are watching videos along, creating a special atmosphere. If a lot of repeated messages appear in the screen, it is called "fire curtain (弾幕)". It usually appears in videos with popular songs. The curtain can cover the whole screen. It becomes a special tradition in "nicovideo". Some users appreciate the curtain rather than the video itself.

Now "nicovideo" become famous in Japan so some commercials cooperate with it. You can find advertisements there. Some animation and music firms consider there as a platform to increase the popularity of their franchise. They put commercial clips in the website. Even there had been broadcast animations and even live concerts.

"Nicovideo" is also a place for people to show their creativity. Hence, this innovation is valuable. Funny clips can be made using different TV clips and musics, and then mixing then together. It is called parody clips of simply "MAD". All of you must have a look of the MAD of the Japanese Mcdonald commercials.

My SWOT

S (Strength)
My most apparent strength is maths, showing strong logical solving ability. There are equations in my brain from day to night.

I have developed a good leadership. I like meeting friends, including from the internet. I enjoy widening my world and leading others. I am a leader of a unofficial Japanese singer fanclub.

W (Weakness)
I am weak in sports. I become exhausted after a short time of activities. And if friends invite me to play ball games, I am not willing to join it.

I am lazy and cannot do things consistently in most of the circumstances. Hence my academic performance was not good in general. Apart from studies, my computer stores a lot of unwatched films and drama.

My language is poor. My Chinese ability had been the weakest among the class because I do not like reading books. And my English was also declining from the top when studying in Primary School to the bottom so that I got an "E" in A-Level English as there is no fixed syllabus anymore, and I did not attempt to improve it. Particularly, my oral is very poor. In fact I cannot speak very fluent Cantonese. Others cannot understand what I say if I am excited.

O (Opportunity)
University provides a lot of opportunities to learn. There are many courses for me to learn languages such as Chinese, English and Putonghua.

T (Thread)
In the future, I will have to use more English. It may make a big problem for me.
Also interviews for grants or jobs may trouble me.

Everyone hates its new FACE

Everyone having a Facebook account should know that the new interface have adopted, with the old one disappeared. I don't know why the admin strict to the new one under the objective noise in the trial period, where users could choose a new or an old one.

Traditional style of Facebook has a disadvantage. Many items, with uncountable Flash objects, are squeezed in a single page, slowing down the browser and computer. This is due to users adding too much applications for fun, without considering anything. I guess Facebook was redesigning it to solve the problem. However, it makes worse, becoming strange and inconvenient. That's why the majority of users dislike the new interface.

There is a Facebook group to support the return of old Facebook:
5,000,000 people who want the option "Back to the old Facebook" to remain!

In addition, I find the old one is also trouble to me as my home computer is really slow. When I visit the pages of some friends, I can't even close the browser since it is lagging! I'd like Facebook to design a better one. Times goes like a rocket in 21st century. If Facebook does not improve itself, it will be defeated very soon.

VOCALOID - Alternate Song Creation

A cover of song with a tie-up of Gundam Anime

Perhaps this is familiar to some students as the song appeared in television sometime before. But do you notice there is some difference?
The song is in fact synthesized by a music software called "VOCALOID2 - Hatsune Miku". The "singer" did not sing it directly.
The voice is originally recorded by a Japanese voice actor. And a software user can arrange a song as the editor like using her lovely voice.

I think many of us did not think of this technology "Speech Synthesis Engine", or regarded it as a joke only. "How possible?" However it eventually comes true.

An animation character is assigned to have the voice so as to be popular in Japan Anime market. It attracts some Anime fans to show their creativity concerning avocational music production. The software producer might have noticed that Anime fans are creative (Why?) comparing with "traditional" pop-music listeners. Hence the producer chose this direction to go.

One of the characters is Hatsune Miku. She is now famous and many official and unofficial products of her are released. A PSP game of Hatsune Miku, with a special version of PSP, will be blooming in the Anime world.

Info Eng

Voyager train starts here

Hello! Welcome to my blog. I am an Information Engineering freshman. Nice to meet you.

Though IE is not my first choice from my JUPAS list, it is still grateful for me to be admitted to this subject in CUHK. I like looking into the social issues in the internet, for instance, the formation and development of nowadays internet sub-culture. Why "Golden Culture (高登文化)" has a great influence in HK? Perhaps it is not directly related to what we are going to study. But why a student becomes rich by only a "Youtube" - one of the greatest INNOVATION in recent years? It is interesting. And after the 3-year university study, can I be the next one? That's why I'm glad to studying in IE, looking forward to what I will learn about, and use.

Apart from mining for new knowledge, there are a lot of thing I should do in university. Meeting new friends is very important. When can I recognize all the students? Improving my personality is a great task for me. I have found many weakness to be corrected.

By the way, I meet a lot of friends from the internet, having a significant variation of my life. Something good while something bad. But this issue may spend a lot of pages, hence I do not talk too much in this introduction. I would like to share it if have time.

My poorest subject is Physics! I got a Fail in AL exam. Maybe due to my laziness. Never ask me anything about it, but I will try my best to improve my knowledge of Electricity. By contrast, I love Math very much and got an A in Pure math. (Aha...The A is not unique in IE this year, so do not mis-recognize your classmates.) Is it strange? Well...That's nothing very special in A-Level World. By the way, my languages are poor too. However, I'm learning Japanese with great effort, and also simple Thai conversation.

Well, here is my self-introduction. And...my msn is
